
No More Shivering in the Bathroom
We’ve all been there. You step out of a hot shower, dripping wet, and immediately hit a wall of freezing air in the dressing area. It’s a shock to the system that ruins a good morning. That’s exactly why we build infrared heaters right into the mirror. Most heaters try to warm up the air in the room—which takes forever and usually just pushes the heat to the ceiling. We do things differently. We use shortwave infrared radiation. Instead of waiting for the air to warm up, this energy travels in a straight line and hits you directly. **You feel the heat the second you flip the switch.**It’s instant.
The Nitty-Gritty
To make this happen, we use a quartz halogen element. When the power hits that tungsten filament, it sends out a specific kind of light (the shortwave spectrum) that doesn’t need air to move it. It just goes straight to your skin. Now, putting a heater behind a mirror is a bit of a balancing act. You can’t just shove a heat lamp in a box. We use high-wattage tubes to keep the unit small without losing that punch of heat. But there’s a catch: glass expands when it gets hot. If the mirror is clamped too tight, it could crack. To stop that, we designed the mounting brackets to give the glass a little room to breathe and move. We also have to be careful with the power. If you pack too much wattage into a tiny cabinet, you’ll bake the housing. It’s all about finding that sweet spot where the mirror stays a mirror, not a giant radiator.
Keeping it Running
We didn’t want you to have to call a technician every time a bulb blew. We use standard R7s snap-in connectors, so when the filament finally gives out, you just pop a new one in. Since bathrooms are basically steam rooms, we also seal the electrical connections. It keeps the corrosion away and keeps things safe. One quick tip: these lamps getextremelyhot. Make sure the ventilation gaps in your mirror frame stay clear. If you block the airflow, the heat gets trapped in the chassis, and your lamp will burn out way faster than it should. Keep it breezy, and it’ll last.
